Cucumbers recalled across 14 states over potential Salmonella contamination
Cucumbers have been recalled in over a dozen states over fears of contamination with a life-threatening bacteria. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Saturday that Florida-based Fresh Start Produce Sales Inc. had issued a recall for cucumbers shipped to 14 states from May 17 through May 21 due to potential Salmonella contamination. The bacterium can cause serious and sometimes deadly infections in people with weakened immune systems, including young children and the elderly.
